Job Promises Under Scrutiny
According to the police complaint, Parameshwar allegedly took money from job-seekers while serving in Deogarh. The promised positions included supervisors, attendants and sweepers in hospitals.
Police said 13 victims were allegedly cheated in the case. The accused reportedly collected around Rs 15.6 lakh, with individual payments going up to Rs 1.3 lakh.
Complaint Filed After Transfer
Despite receiving payments, the promised jobs were not provided. Victims alleged that Parameshwar delayed responses and made excuses while retaining the money.
After his transfer to Kandhamal district in November 2025, Lakshmipriya Behera, a resident of Kurad village, filed a formal complaint at Deogarh Adarsha Police Station. The complaint led police to begin an investigation into the allegations.
Case Registered Under BNS Sections
Based on the complaint, police arrested Parameshwar on Monday and forwarded him to court. The case has been registered under sections 318(4), 296 and 351(3) of the BNS Act as case number 143/2026 at Deogarh Adarsha Police Station.
Police are continuing the investigation to identify whether any other accomplices were involved in the alleged fraud.
