In a shocking breach of trust, Hyderabad’s East Zone Police are on the hunt for a group of five Nepali nationals who allegedly drugged and looted an elderly couple they worked for in the Kachiguda area. The gang, employed as domestic help, reportedly spiked the victims’ food with sedatives on the night of April 21 and fled with 1 kilogram of gold ornaments and ₹60 lakh in cash.

The victims, Hemraj Dugar, a local businessman, and his wife Meena, both in their 60s, had hired the accused a month prior. Once unconscious, the couple remained unaware as the gang looted their valuables and vanished overnight.

Lookout Notices Issued, Cross-Border Escape Suspected

Authorities have identified the suspects as Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, Arpitha, Depender alias Gajender, Chathurbuj alias Aryan, and an unidentified fifth person. Based on preliminary investigation, the Hyderabad Police suspect the culprits may still be within India, potentially attempting to cross over into Nepal using fake identities or with the help of accomplices.

Police search operations have been launched in multiple Indian cities and across Nepal. The DCP (East Zone) B. Bala Swamy confirmed that a lookout notice has been circulated nationwide and photos of the accused have been released to the public.

Public Alert and Safety Advisory from Police

The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any sightings or interactions with the accused. Contact numbers for the DCP, Additional DCP, ACP, and SHO Kachiguda have been released for tip-offs. The authorities have also announced monetary rewards for informants providing credible leads.

This incident has prompted the Hyderabad police to once again warn residents to conduct proper background verification and police checks before hiring domestic staff. They emphasized the importance of using formal channels and local police stations to ensure safety and avoid such high-risk situations.
