Uttarakhand STF Busts Cyber Fraud Network, Arrests Two from Delhi with International Links
DEHRADUN: The Cyber Police Station of Dehradun, under the Uttarakhand STF, has commenced the new year with a major breakthrough, dismantling a nationwide cyber fraud network. Two individuals were arrested from Delhi, and notices were issued to four others for their involvement in a Rs 23 lakh cyber scam targeting a resident of Dehradun.
The victim was duped through fraudulent job offers on the pretext of being shortlisted via naukri.com. Cybercriminals, posing as representatives of reputed organizations, lured the victim into transferring funds under various pretenses such as registration fees, document verification, job security, visa processing, and language exams.

Investigations revealed the fraudulent transfer of funds to multiple bank accounts and the conversion of money into USDT cryptocurrency using the Binance app. This scam involved international connections, with suspects linked to operatives in Dubai, China, and Pakistan.
MODUS OPERANDI
1. Target Identification: Cybercriminals actively monitored job search platforms like **naukri.com** to identify potential victims.
2. Deceptive Communication: Using fake email IDs resembling reputed companies and contacting victims via WhatsApp, Telegram, and phone calls, they gained trust.
3. Fraudulent Processes: Victims were made to pay for fictitious services such as registration, interviews, job security, visa fast-tracking, and language proficiency exams.
4. Money Laundering: The stolen money was deposited into accounts opened using forged documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards. The funds were then converted into USDT cryptocurrency via Binance and transferred to foreign operatives.
5. Profit Sharing: The international operatives purchased USDT at a premium rate and shared the profits with their Indian counterparts.
