Telangana Cyber Security Bureau Cracks Down on Cybercrime, Arrests 21 Cybercrime Criminals in Major Operation

TELANGANA: In a sweeping operation across Telangana, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) apprehended 21 individuals accused of orchestrating a series of cybercrimes. These suspects were allegedly involved in 25 cases within the state and 73 nationwide, spanning fraudulent activities such as business scams, part-time job cons, KYC scams, and matrimonial frauds.
The arrests were carried out in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Karimnagar, and Jagtial. The operation led to the seizure of critical evidence, including 20 mobile phones, 15 SIM cards, four bank passbooks, and five debit cards.

The arrested individuals were identified as Ramesh Kumar from Katedan, Haroon Khan, a businessman from Kishan Bagh, Shaik Mateen, a bookstore worker from Charminar, Mirza Hyder Askasri, a food delivery agent from Charminar, Md. Dastagir Farhan, a gym trainer from Chandrayangutta, Noor Jahan from Jahanuma, Mujahed Hussain, a horse breeder from Moula Ali, Md. Rahamatullah, a tailor from Golconda, Durga Prasad from Uppal, Obulapuram Thirumala Subhash, a hotel management professional from Malkajgiri, Md. Salman, a bike taxi rider from Chandrayangutta, Sankendla Raju from Subhash Nagar, Karimnagar, and Mohammed Sumair Uddin, a civil contractor from Falaknuma.
According to Shikha Goel, Director of TGCSB, 13 suspects utilized their bank accounts to withdraw illicit funds amounting to Rs 8.2 crore, which they subsequently handed over to higher-level agents. The remaining eight suspects were responsible for transferring these funds via cryptocurrency to international associates.

“This operation highlights the expanding network of cybercrime in Telangana, with connections to 714 suspects nationwide. These agents have established links with 325 cybercrime operatives across the country, and some international perpetrators have been identified. We have also traced five cryptocurrency wallets, which are now under investigation to track the flow of funds,” said Goel.
The operation was spearheaded by DSPs S.V. Hari Krishna and K.V. Surya Prakash under the supervision of SP Devender Singh. The TGCSB’s efforts underscore the pressing need to combat the growing menace of cybercrime, which continues to evolve with technological advancements.
