Rajkot and Junagadh Cyber Crime Police Block Rs 7 Lakh Siphoned Off in 4 Fraud Cases

Rajkot and Junagadh cyber crime police have successfully blocked a sum of Rs 7 lakh that was siphoned off by cyber criminals in four different cases of fraud. In the first case, a woman named Jigna Bhatt was duped by cyber crooks who had asked her to update her banking mobile application. She was sent a link and was asked to fill in her details, which she did, leading to the loss of Rs 84,000. Similarly, another resident of Rajkot, Yash Togadiya, lost Rs 4 lakh to cyber criminals while trying to book tickets for a world tour package.

Police could recover Rs 3 lakh out of the total amount lost in fraud. Harsh Desai was also cheated with the lure of cheap raw materials on India Mart, and he lost Rs 1.2 lakh to cyber criminals, but the police could return him Rs 1 lakh. Although the police managed to block the amounts being transferred to the accounts of the cyber criminals by informing the payment gateways, no accused could be traced.

According to K J Makwana, a police inspector of cyber crime police station Rajkot, cyber criminals are smart and leave no traces behind, making it difficult for them to be traced. In the fourth case, a man from Junagadh received a message of online shopping worth Rs 2 lakh using his credit card. He was unaware of how his credit card information got leaked, but he immediately contacted the police. The transaction was stopped at the payment gateway, and the amount was reversed to his account.

The incidents highlight the need for individuals to be cautious while sharing their sensitive information online. The police have advised citizens to be alert while making transactions online and to not fall for the false promises made by cyber criminals. They have also urged the public to report any such incidents immediately to the cyber crime police.
