On May 31, 2025, Rajeev Krishna officially took over as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh, succeeding Prashant Kumar. Krishna, a 1991-batch IPS officer, brings with him a wealth of experience, having served in various capacities including Director General of Vigilance and Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. His appointment comes after a notable tenure overseeing a massive police recruitment drive, which was lauded for its transparency and efficiency .
