Scammer Posing As Canadian Architect Dupes Pune Based Woman Of Rs 6 Lakh
PUNE: A management professional in her thirties was tricked by a cybercriminal who claimed to be an “architect from Canada.” The man had promised to marry her and conned her out of Rs 6 lakh under the guise of “airport clearance” for his valuables upon his arrival in India.
The woman in a managerial position at a global corporation has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Wakad police station. The complainant made her profile on a dating website, according to the police. In March 2022, she was contacted by a prospective groom who identified himself as a Canadian architect. The scammer won her confidence as he used to communicate using an international number. Later he demanded money.

When she began to inquire about the multiple payments, the suspect went into hiding. The claimant had lost Rs 5.85 lakh at that point. After attempting to reach the suspect without success, the woman approached the cybercrime cell and filed an FIR.
