Ayodhya | A Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining the administrative and financial management of the Ram Temple has submitted its preliminary report to the government. According to sources, the report points to five significant shortcomings related to the temple’s administration, finances and operational systems. The findings reportedly highlight concerns regarding donation security, record-keeping of gold and silver offerings, recruitment procedures, procurement practices and the management of prasad distribution.
According to the report, investigators found that the process of transporting cash donations from the temple premises to banks, as well as counting the donations in designated counting rooms, lacked adequate security and monitoring mechanisms. The SIT has reportedly stressed the need for stronger controls to improve transparency and accountability in handling donated funds. Investigators believe that sensitive financial operations should be subject to multiple layers of supervision and oversight.

The report also raises concerns about the management and documentation of gold and silver ornaments donated by devotees. During the inquiry, investigators allegedly identified instances where the storage, inventory management and record-keeping of valuable items did not meet expected standards. The SIT is understood to have recommended strengthening digital documentation systems and conducting regular audits to ensure proper accountability.
Questions have also been raised regarding certain recruitment processes within the temple administration. According to the findings, some appointments were allegedly not carried out in full compliance with established eligibility criteria and procedural norms. The investigation team has emphasized that transparent recruitment practices and clearly defined qualification standards are essential for administrative efficiency and institutional accountability.
Procurement and supply-related activities also came under scrutiny during the investigation. The report reportedly indicates that certain purchasing procedures lacked full transparency and that compliance with prescribed procurement norms may not have been consistently maintained. Investigators noted indications of possible procedural irregularities in some transactions. However, final conclusions on these matters are expected only after further examination and follow-up action.
The SIT also identified shortcomings in the prasad distribution system and the operation of Sita Rasoi. According to the report, there were instances where food items and other supplies were allegedly purchased at prices significantly higher than prevailing market rates. These findings have raised concerns about financial discipline and the effectiveness of oversight mechanisms.
Sources said the SIT has recommended a series of corrective measures aimed at improving accountability and strengthening financial governance. These include regular audits, enhanced digital record management systems, stronger monitoring mechanisms and reforms in administrative procedures.
Experts note that transparency in financial and administrative operations is critical for large religious and public institutions. Measures such as independent audits, digital record-keeping and multilayered monitoring systems can help prevent irregularities while strengthening the confidence of devotees and stakeholders.
