Police also suspect that approximately ₹3.5 lakh from the allegedly embezzled money was used to purchase a Maruti Brezza. Investigators are now examining whether the suspected diverted funds were used to acquire any additional movable or immovable assets.

During questioning, Shukla also allegedly admitted to transferring around ₹2.5 lakh to a friend and gifting him an expensive mobile phone. Investigators suspect that smaller amounts may also have been distributed among several other individuals.

SIT Visits Multiple Locations

Sources said the accused was questioned for nearly 13 hours during police remand, leading investigators to several new leads.

Following the interrogation, the SIT took him to multiple locations in Ayodhya, including a yoga centre in Kaushalpuri and the 14-Kosi Parikrama Marg. During the exercise, the accused allegedly identified locations where the suspects used to divide the stolen donation money among themselves.

Investigators are verifying these claims as part of the ongoing probe.

Cash, Foreign Currency And Vehicle Seized

As part of the investigation, police have so far seized ₹20.39 lakh in cash, 1,121 US dollars, gold jewellery, silver ornaments, other valuables and a vehicle allegedly linked to the case.

Investigators claim the seized Maruti Brezza was purchased using allegedly embezzled funds, although it was registered in the name of the accused’s brother, Abhishek. This aspect is also under detailed examination.

Officials are now examining bank transactions, financial records and other documentary evidence to establish the complete money trail and determine whether more assets were purchased using the suspected funds.

The case relates to the alleged embezzlement of cash and valuables donated by devotees at the Ram Temple. On July 1, the Uttar Pradesh government granted the SIT an additional 15 days to expand and complete its investigation.

So far, eight people associated with the temple’s donation collection and counting process have been arrested. Investigators said the probe is continuing and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected.
