OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT beyond a tool primarily used to answer questions by introducing new features designed around traditional office software tasks.
The company has introduced Space and Pages, allowing users to organise work, create documents and collaborate with others directly within ChatGPT. Presentation and spreadsheet capabilities are also planned.
The expansion moves ChatGPT closer to workplace productivity software traditionally associated with products such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. OpenAI’s approach, however, places AI directly alongside users while documents and other work are being created.

What Is ChatGPT Space?
Space serves as a home for pages, uploaded files and shared work inside ChatGPT. Users can organise related material in spaces and invite other people to collaborate on pages and files.
Pages can also be organised into subpages, allowing teams to keep related documents and supporting material together. Space is currently available for creating and editing content on eligible ChatGPT Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts.
What Can Users Do With Pages?
Pages functions as an editable document environment where people can work directly with ChatGPT. Users can write content themselves or ask ChatGPT to revise individual sections or an entire document.
Pages can contain material such as project briefs, meeting notes, research summaries and team updates. ChatGPT can also help create charts, trackers and other interactive elements within pages. Multiple collaborators with appropriate access can edit the same page.
How Will Slides Change Presentations?
OpenAI is also bringing presentation capabilities into this broader workspace. Its documentation says presentations and spreadsheets will be supported within Space, although Slides and Sheets are still listed as coming soon in its current help documentation.
The broader direction is to allow users to create and modify traditional workplace materials with ChatGPT rather than treating AI as a separate tool used only before or after a document is created.

The additions push ChatGPT further into a productivity-software market long dominated by traditional office suites. OpenAI had already expanded into this territory with ChatGPT Work, which can create finished materials including slides, sheets and documents while working across apps and files.
