Police in Odisha’s Ganjam district have busted an alleged illegal firearms manufacturing and supply racket, arresting three people and seizing country-made firearms, machinery and tools.
The arrested persons have been identified as Pagala Muli, 65, Prasanna Kumar Muli, 34, and Tukuna Muli, 30. Police said the operation has prompted a wider investigation into the possible network of manufacturers, suppliers and buyers linked to illegal weapons.
Three Arrested in Tarasingi Firearms Racket
Ganjam SP Harisha BC said the accused were allegedly involved in manufacturing illegal firearms and supplying them to customers in exchange for money.
Tarasingi police recovered five single-barrel muzzle-loading firearms and one Synder, along with a substantial quantity of machinery and tools suspected to have been used in the manufacturing process.
The three accused have been taken into custody as investigators work to establish the scale of the alleged operation and determine whether other people were involved.

Machinery and Specialised Tools Seized
Police seized equipment including two drill machines, two blowers, two electric power machines, an electric cutter, a trigger mechanism, four hammers, two vice press machines and two hand power machines.
A muzzle barrel, motor, cutter and sharpening stone were also recovered. The range of machinery and specialised equipment has led investigators to examine whether the accused were regularly manufacturing firearms and distributing them through an organised network.
Police are also investigating the source of the raw materials allegedly used in the manufacturing operation. Investigators are seeking to establish whether the accused had links with others involved in the illegal manufacture and distribution of firearms.
Police Probe Buyers and Wider Supply Network
The investigation has now expanded to identifying the alleged buyers and tracing the destinations to which the firearms may have been supplied.
Police are examining possible connections between the arrested men and others who may have participated in the manufacture, supply or purchase of illegal weapons.
The seizure has raised concerns about a potentially wider underground network involving manufacturers, suppliers and buyers. Investigators are seeking to determine how extensively the alleged operation functioned and where the weapons were being sent.
Further investigation is underway to trace the complete network and identify other people, if any, connected with the alleged illegal firearms manufacturing and supply racket.
