Greater Noida: The District Court has once again denied bail to notorious scrap mafia Ravi Kana and his accomplice/alleged girlfriend Kajal Jha. The court’s decision comes after a petition for bail was submitted by the defense, which the court rejected outright, marking another setback for the duo.

The bail rejection is the latest in a series of legal hurdles for Ravi Kana and Kajal Jha, who are both currently facing multiple charges including gang rape and offenses under the Gangster Act. The GB Nagar Police, under the leadership of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has left no stone unturned in dismantling their ‘Empire of Scraps’.

In January, a lookout circular and a red corner notice were issued against Kana to prevent him from fleeing the country. However, intelligence reports revealed that Kana had already escaped. Through investigation, including the analysis of call records and interrogation of arrested associates, the Noida police traced Kana’s location to Bangkok. The Noida police commissionerate then coordinated with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Interpol, resulting in Kana’s arrest.

Laxmi Singh, who led the operation, is a 2000-batch IPS officer, is Noida's first-ever woman Police Commissioner. She holds the honor of being the first woman IPS topper, ranking 33rd overall in the UPSC exams. Singh was also recognized as the best probationer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad. Her spouse, Rajeshwar Singh, serves as the MLA of Sarojini Nagar in Lucknow.

Upon their deportation, Kana and Jha were detained at Delhi’s IGI Airport by a police team from Greater Noida. Following their interrogation at the Knowledge Park police station, they were presented before the magistrate and subsequently remanded to judicial custody in the Luksar district jail.

Despite multiple efforts to secure bail, both Kana and Jha remain behind bars as their legal troubles mount. Over the past three months, more than 15 associates of Kana have been arrested, and properties worth Rs. 250 crore linked to the gang, including Rs. 120 crore belonging to Kana, which include’s Kana’s Rs. 80 crore bungalow in New Friends Colony, Delhi, which he bought in the name of his girlfriend (Kajal jha).

Ravi Kana, also known as Ravi Nagar or Ravindra Singh, has a long history of criminal activities, including running a scrap business through intimidation and violence. His associate, Kajal Jha, has been implicated in several of these illegal operations.
