New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned NEET UG 2026 candidates and parents against submitting fake or AI-generated OMR sheets while raising complaints over alleged discrepancies in examination scores. The agency has cautioned that submission of forged documents may lead to legal action against the complainants.
The warning was issued after several candidates approached the agency claiming that their final marks did not match the scores they calculated using the official answer key. During the scrutiny of complaints, the NTA found that some OMR sheets submitted by candidates appeared to be fake or created using artificial intelligence tools.
The examination authority has advised candidates to submit only original OMR sheets issued during the examination process while seeking verification of their marks.
The NTA said that it is closely monitoring all complaints related to NEET UG 2026 results and examining the documents provided by candidates. The agency has made it clear that only authentic examination records will be considered during the review process.
Candidates Raise Concerns Over Score Differences
Several students had raised objections after the declaration of NEET UG 2026 results, alleging major differences between their expected marks and the scores displayed on their scorecards.
According to reports, some candidates claimed that their calculated scores based on the official answer key were significantly higher than the marks awarded in the final results.
In one case, a student from Maharashtra’s Beed district reportedly claimed that she expected around 522 marks based on the answer key but received only 95 marks in the result. Another candidate alleged that the OMR sheet uploaded under her credentials was not hers, while her scorecard showed 87 marks despite claiming a much higher expected score.
Following such complaints, several families demanded an investigation into the alleged discrepancies.
AI-Based Fake Documents Become New Challenge
The NTA has highlighted that the use of artificial intelligence tools to create manipulated documents has become a serious challenge for examination authorities. Officials said that fake OMR sheets can affect the credibility of the grievance redressal system and hamper genuine investigations.
The agency has advised students and parents to avoid submitting altered documents or relying on unofficial material while filing complaints.
Candidates found submitting fabricated records or misleading information during the verification process may face legal action, the agency warned.
NEET UG 2026 Exam Conducted Again After Paper Leak Allegations
The NEET UG 2026 results were declared on July 16 after a re-examination process. The original examination conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.
A fresh examination was conducted on June 21 for affected candidates. After the controversy, the government announced that future NEET UG examinations would be shifted from the traditional pen-and-paper format to a computer-based testing (CBT) system.
The NTA said that the verification of complaints is still underway and further action will be taken after completing the examination of all submitted documents.
