KOTA: A disturbing case of educational fraud has emerged from Kota’s Jawahar Nagar area, where a medical aspirant was allegedly cheated of ₹8.5 lakh by fellow coaching students who promised to secure him high marks in the NEET exam through illicit means.

According to SHO Ram Lakshman Gurjar, the complainant, a student from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, had returned home after preparing for the medical entrance examination in Kota. During his stay, he was introduced by a friend named Raj Shukla to two others, Aman and Satyam, also from Bihar, who claimed to have inside connections to manipulate NEET results.

Promise of High Scores, Empty OMR Sheets

The accused allegedly assured the student that they had “settings” within the examination system and had previously helped several students clear NEET by collecting large sums of money. He was told to leave his OMR answer sheet blank, with the promise that the answers would be filled in and marks ensured by their sources.

The student, desperate for success, transferred a total of ₹8.5 lakh to the duo, part of which came from funds set aside by his family for his sister’s marriage. Once the NEET results were declared and no such outcome materialised, the student confronted the accused.

Upon being questioned, Aman and Satyam allegedly began avoiding him and eventually fled. The student’s friend, Raj Shukla, who had introduced him to the duo and also took ₹1 lakh from him, was later compelled to return ₹80,000 following a police complaint.

Investigators say the accused spent the scammed money on luxury items and lifestyle purchases. The transactions were traced, revealing online money transfers during the student’s stay in Bihar. SHO Gurjar confirmed that a case has been registered and the search is on for Aman and Satyam.

The victim has also claimed that the accused might have conned other NEET aspirants using similar tactics. Police believe more victims may come forward once arrests are made.

Authorities have urged students to stay alert and report any suspicious claims related to examination results or illegal promises made in exchange for money.
