Mobile Game Frenzy Leads To Teen Death: Bihar Police In Search Of Body Of Boy Murdered By Friends Over Free Fire

A team of professional divers are looking for the body of a class XI student of Bihar’s Gopalganj in Gandak river. The boy has been allegedly strangulated and dumped in the river by none other than his own gaming friends.

The rising craze of mobile gaming culture in India has started taking a violent turn. A group of three friends took the life of their gaming partner who allegedly hacked their login id of Free Fire game – a multiuser battle royale game.

According to the police, the boy – Mohammad Roushan (16) went missing for the last few days following which his parents registered an FIR with the police. On suspicion raised by parents, police picked up the boy’s gaming partner who confessed to killing Roushan.

Officials said to hide the evidence trio dumped boy’s body in Gandak river which is yet to be fished out.
Gopalganj Sadar SDPO Naresh Paswan told The420.in, “during our questioning victim’s friends broke down and confessed that they killed Roushan on Monday. Divers of NDRF are trying to fish out the boy’s body.”

Paswan added that Roushan and his friends were avid mobile gamers and during questioning his friends said that Roushan had hacked login id of the game because of which they were not able to access their account. Out of anger they called him on the bank of the river and after a scuffle he was strangulated and the body was thrown in the river.

The popularity of online gaming has surged during the pandemic and gained mainstream recognition. The craze of gaming has now reached a level where people have started killing each other. Many parents and civil bodies have asked the government to put a ban on action and aggressive games. However, with increasing internet penetration mobile gaming has achieved a new height in India.
