Mathura: A land fraud complaint from Kharot village under Chhata tehsil has prompted an administrative inquiry after a family alleged that a forged thumb impression of an elderly woman was used to illegally transfer nearly 1.5 acres of agricultural land worth several crores. The victim’s family has approached the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, seeking cancellation of the disputed registry and legal action against those involved.

Family Alleges Fake Registry Of Ancestral Land

According to the complainant, Vijeendra Singh, son of Chandrar Singh, the disputed farmland is ancestral property registered in the name of his mother, Gyanwati. He alleged that land mafia elements active in the area targeted the property through a planned conspiracy.

The family has claimed that a fraudulent sale deed was executed on January 8, 2025, using a forged thumb impression of Gyanwati. Through this alleged manipulation, nearly 1.5 acres of valuable agricultural land was transferred to the accused parties without the knowledge or consent of the rightful owner.

Victims Claim Threats After Objection

After the alleged fraud came to light, the family objected to the transfer and approached the Chhata SDM office. The complainant has demanded that the registry be cancelled immediately and that a detailed investigation be conducted to identify all those involved.

The victim family further alleged that after raising objections, they were threatened by the accused and warned of serious consequences if they continued pursuing the matter. The incident has reportedly caused tension in the village.

The family has also expressed concern that the case may be part of a larger land-grabbing operation involving multiple people. They fear that if timely action is not taken, the remaining portion of the land could also be illegally occupied.

Police And Revenue Officials Begin Inquiry

Authorities have taken cognisance of the complaint and initiated a preliminary inquiry. Officials have assured the family that relevant documents will be examined and appropriate legal action will follow if irregularities are confirmed.

The disputed registry documents have been taken for scrutiny. A joint team of police and revenue officials has also been deployed to investigate the matter and determine whether more individuals were involved or whether similar fraudulent transfers have occurred earlier.

The case has sparked concern among villagers, who have demanded swift registration of an FIR and strict action against the accused. Locals said stronger measures are needed to curb land fraud and protect property rights in rural areas.
