New Delhi | The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Jammu, has registered a case against a man in connection with an alleged ₹3.75 crore property fraud. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly misrepresented a bank-mortgaged property as free from encumbrances and collected crores of rupees from a doctor. The investigation has been initiated on allegations of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and misappropriation.
Officials identified the accused as Pieary Lal Koul, a resident of Adarsh Vihar, Channi Deeli, Jammu. The case was registered following a complaint filed by a doctor based in Jammu.

According to the complaint, the doctor had entered into an agreement to purchase a residential plot along with a house in Channi Deeli for ₹3.75 crore. After initially paying a token amount, the complainant allegedly discovered that the property, which had been represented as free from any financial liabilities, was in fact mortgaged with a bank.
The complainant further alleged that, based on the seller’s assurances, he first cleared the outstanding bank loan and subsequently made additional payments through bank transfers as well as cash. The total amount paid reportedly reached approximately ₹3.75 crore. Despite making the payments, the complainant alleged that he did not receive the expected ownership rights over the property, prompting him to approach the Crime Branch.
Following a preliminary inquiry, the Economic Offences Wing registered an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are now examining the agreement to sell, bank records, financial transactions, payment receipts, and other related documents to verify the allegations and trace the flow of funds.
Officials said further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation. The probe is ongoing, and the allegations remain under investigation. No conclusions regarding criminal liability have been reached at this stage.
