An elderly resident of Hyderabad has lost Rs 33.39 lakh after being drawn into an online trading fraud initiated through a social media advertisement. The complainant, who lives in the Adarsh Nagar area, had clicked on an Instagram commercial that promised high financial gains from trading in shares, commodities, and foreign currencies. After he submitted his personal information through the provided link, a woman identifying herself as Monisha phoned him, claiming to represent an investment firm and urging him to set up an online account.
Promoters Invoked Quantum AI to Secure Initial Deposits
During their discussions, the caller pointed to Quantum AI technology as an effective instrument for generating strong profits from the financial markets. Convinced by these claims, the senior citizen was initially directed to deposit approximately $200 to commence trading. The representative subsequently urged him to step up his capital commitments. Operating under the belief that the platform was credible and capable of delivering significant returns, the complainant agreed to transfer larger amounts in multiple instalments.
Repeated Transfers Pushed Total Loss to Rs 33.39 Lakh
As the exchanges continued, the complainant transferred additional funds into specified accounts, eventually remitting a cumulative sum of Rs 33.39 lakh. The complaint does not indicate whether any genuine returns or paper profits were displayed on his trading interface, nor does it specify the precise number of transactions that took place before the fraud was detected. It also remains unverified whether the commercial entity named by the woman exists as a recognized financial firm or if its name was used fraudulently to deceive potential investors.
Cybercrime Police Trace Accounts and Digital Links
Upon receiving the complaint, the Hyderabad Cybercrime police registered a formal case and launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators. Police officials are currently examining the phone numbers used to solicit the funds and tracing the banking channels through which the money was redirected. The inquiry is focused on establishing the true identity of the woman who contacted the victim and assessing whether the operation was handled by an isolated actor or an organized network running deceptive digital investment advertisements.
