Fight Against Cyber Crime: Dedicated Cyber Crime Police Stations In All 15 Districts Of Delhi

NEW DELHI: To combat cyber crime, the Delhi Police will establish a distinct and dedicated police station in each of the 15 districts.

The new police stations will be known as the Cyber Police Station East, Cyber Police Station North-East, Cyber Police Station South, Cyber Police Station South-East, Cyber Police Station South-West, Cyber Police Station West, Cyber Police Station Outer, Cyber Police Station Central, Cyber Police Station North, Cyber Police Station North-West, Cyber Police Station Shahdara, Cyber Police Station Rohini, Cyber Police Station New Delhi, Cyber Police Station Dwarka and Cyber Police Station Outer North, according to a Delhi Home Department Gazette notification.

The Department stated that establishing a “Cyber Police Station” in each of the police districts was necessary in order to enquire about and investigate cases, and that doing so would allow for improved police assistance to the public. The new stations will have jurisdiction over the entire police district, which will be communicated to the Cyber Police Station.

The Delhi Police will now be required to establish the same advanced cyber lab in each of the national capital’s 15 districts.

According to data released by the Delhi Police during its annual press conference in February, cyber-crime cases increased from March to May 2020, when limitations were in place owing to the COVID-19 outbreak. In May, the number of such instances increased from roughly 2,000 in March to over 4,000.
