A businessman from Etah district in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested after police received cyber tip-offs linked to alleged child sexual abuse material detected on Google Drive. Police said the case was traced through information routed via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal after Google’s system flagged suspicious material and shared it with the relevant agencies.

Google Tip-Off Led To Police Action

According to the report, Google detected a video saved on the accused’s Google Drive and sent information to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States. The information was then shared with the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, following which Etah police received nine cyber tip-offs through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Police said a technical investigation led by cyber officials helped locate the accused in the Jalesar area. Based on IMEI numbers, login details, email addresses and other digital evidence, police identified the accused as 42-year-old Mudit Gupta, a resident of Mohalla Bazaar Kalan in Jalesar.

Digital Evidence Found On Phone And Cloud Storage

Police arrested the accused from his home on Monday. Two mobile phones allegedly used in the incident and two T-shirts worn at the time were also recovered from him.

Investigators said the accused had allegedly saved videos of the abuse in Google Drive. Police also claimed that examination of his mobile phone and digital accounts revealed a large number of incriminating photos and videos. Preliminary forensic examination reportedly found more than 1,000 suspicious photos and videos.

According to the report, investigators initially found 21 photos and videos that were allegedly linked to child sexual abuse material. Police said the accused used a VPN and 11 different email addresses for suspicious online activities.

POCSO And IT Act Case Registered

Additional Superintendent of Police Yogendra Singh said police arrested the Jalesar businessman after acting on the Google tip-off. He said the accused allegedly sexually abused a five-year-old girl after showing her pornographic videos a few months ago.

Police have registered an FIR under sections of the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act. Officials said that after receiving a written complaint from the victim’s family, the charge of rape would be enhanced.

Police said they are conducting a detailed investigation and are also examining whether the accused had any links to other individuals or organised networks. The case remains under investigation, and further legal action will depend on the evidence collected.
