PRAYAGRAJ, UTTAR PRADESH: Under the ongoing “Operation Conviction” initiative led by  Prayagraj Police achieved a significant milestone through diligent investigation and effective prosecution. In a case  registered under Sections 420 IPC, 66 IT Act, and 14(A) Foreigners Act, the Hon’ble Court of ADJ,  Allahabad, convicted the accused, Angus Stanley, a Nigerian national, on 22.01.2025.

The court sentenced the accused to:

  • Section 420 IPC: 3 years and 6 months of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000.
  • Section 66(C) IT Act: 2 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000.
  • Section 14(A) Foreigners Act: 3 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

In case of non-payment of fines, the accused will serve an additional 6 months of imprisonment for each section.

Modus Operandi
The accused, Angus Stanley, originally from Owerri, Nigeria, was residing in New Delhi. He operated a sophisticated cyber fraud scheme targeting individuals by exploiting their trust and personal information. Using advanced technology and deceptive techniques, he committed financial frauds and violated immigration laws.

Arrest & Seizure
The accused was apprehended following a meticulous investigation by the Cyber Crime Police Station, Prayagraj. Evidence collected during the investigation played a crucial role in securing the conviction.
