Complaint Leads to CBI Trap Operation

According to the complaint filed by Amit Kumar, a State Tax Officer, he met Om Parkash Singh Rana on April 29, 2026, regarding a matter pending before the Punjab Vigilance Bureau.

The complaint alleged that Rana demanded ₹20 lakh in cash and a mobile handset in exchange for settling the matter. After receiving the complaint, the CBI conducted verification of the allegations before initiating further action.

On May 11, 2026, the agency carried out a trap operation in Chandigarh. During the operation, Ankit Wadhwa, Raghav Goyal and Vikas Goyal were arrested.

Investigation Completed, Chargesheet Filed

The principal accused, Om Parkash Singh Rana, later surrendered before the court. Following the completion of the investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against all four accused before the competent special court.

The agency has alleged that the bribe demand was linked to resolving a pending vigilance matter. Investigators stated that documentary and other evidence was collected during the probe.

The case will now proceed before the special court, which will examine the evidence, consider the framing of charges and conduct further proceedings according to law.

Judicial Proceedings to Continue

The accused will have the opportunity to present their defence during the trial. The allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny, and the guilt or innocence of the accused will be determined only after completion of the legal process.

The case is part of the CBI’s anti-corruption investigations involving trap operations and prosecution based on alleged bribery demands. Under law, all accused remain presumed innocent until proven guilty.
