Digital Evidence and Tools Seized from Cyber Syndicate Operatives

Following initial arrests and extensive nationwide searches in April 2025, the CBI had nabbed four individuals suspected of running a cybercrime syndicate that misused illegally obtained SIM cards and mule bank accounts to commit fraud. The latest arrests were the result of interrogations and intelligence gathered during earlier phases of the operation.

Searches led to the recovery of sophisticated digital equipment and incriminating documents from the accused, highlighting the technical expertise and structured planning behind the racket. These tools were key in orchestrating “digital arrests,” where victims were made to believe they were under official investigation, prompting them to transfer large sums as “bail” or “penalty” payments.

Court Grants 8-Day Custody; CBI Promises Unrelenting Probe

The two accused arrested in Mumbai were presented before the competent court in Jhunjhunu District, Rajasthan, which granted eight-day police custody. CBI officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing and emphasized their dedication to dismantling the wider network involved in cyber extortion, digital impersonation, and financial fraud.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to fair and impartial investigation, calling the operation a step forward in countering the growing threat of digital crime in India.
