As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms industries, business operations and decision-making processes, the demand for professionals who can lead AI adoption responsibly and strategically is becoming increasingly important. Responding to this growing need, the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF), through its professional training initiative FCRF Academy, has announced the second cohort of its Certified Chief AI Officer (CAIO) certification program, commencing on November 14, 2026. Interested participants can click here to register now for the C-CAIO program.

The four-week certification program will be conducted through live, expert-led sessions every Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM IST, bringing together professionals seeking to strengthen their understanding of artificial intelligence beyond its technical applications.

Following an encouraging response to the inaugural cohort, with hundreds of professionals already having pursued the certification, the program returns with a renewed focus on developing AI-ready leaders who can navigate the growing intersection of technology, business strategy, cybersecurity, data protection and regulatory compliance.

From a Successful First Cohort to a Second Learning Opportunity

The return of the Certified Chief AI Officer program marks another step in FCRF Academy’s efforts to make specialised AI leadership education accessible to professionals across industries.

The inaugural cohort attracted significant interest in understanding artificial intelligence from a leadership and governance perspective, rather than limiting learning to AI tools, coding or technical implementation. The program was designed to connect emerging technologies with the practical responsibilities of business leaders, cybersecurity professionals, legal practitioners, compliance officers and decision-makers.

Building on that foundation, the second cohort will offer participants an expanded learning experience. In addition to the new live sessions, enrolled learners will receive access to recordings of the entire previous cohort, allowing them to revisit expert discussions, explore additional explanations and develop a deeper understanding of important concepts.

Participants will also have access to structured PDF learning materials, recorded sessions and supplementary resources through the FCRF Academy Learning Management System (LMS). This combination of live teaching and previous cohort recordings offers two complementary learning experiences within a single certification program.

The initiative reflects FCRF Academy’s approach to professional education, where learning extends beyond classroom sessions through practical discussions, accessible resources and continued knowledge development.

Why India Needs Certified AI Leaders More Than Ever

The growing importance of AI leadership is closely connected with the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence across banking, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, public administration, cybersecurity and other sectors.

While organisations are increasingly exploring generative AI, large language models and autonomous AI systems, implementing these technologies responsibly presents challenges involving data privacy, algorithmic bias, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, transparency, accountability and regulatory obligations.

India’s evolving AI governance landscape has further highlighted the need for trained professionals who can balance technological innovation with organisational responsibility. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s India AI Governance Guidelines, introduced in November 2025, emphasise responsible innovation, human-centric AI, transparency, safety and accountability.

For organisations, this creates a growing need for professionals capable of evaluating AI-related risks, establishing governance frameworks, reviewing AI deployments, developing responsible AI policies and communicating technological risks to senior leadership.

The role of a Chief AI Officer is therefore emerging as an important bridge between technology teams, business management, legal departments, cybersecurity functions and organisational leadership.

Unlike conventional technology-focused training, the CAIO certification seeks to develop a broader understanding of how AI systems should be selected, implemented, monitored and governed within real-world organisational environments.

The program is particularly relevant for senior executives, technology leaders, cybersecurity professionals, governance and risk specialists, legal practitioners, data protection officers, consultants, government officials and professionals aspiring to take on AI strategy and leadership responsibilities.

As AI increasingly influences critical decisions, understanding how to use the technology is no longer sufficient. Organisations also need professionals who understand when AI should be used, what risks it introduces, and how its outcomes should be governed and monitored.

A Four-Week Certification Combining AI Strategy, Governance and Practical Learning

The second cohort of the Certified Chief AI Officer program will follow a structured 16-module curriculum delivered over four weekends, covering essential aspects of artificial intelligence, enterprise AI strategy, governance, compliance, risk management and responsible implementation.

Participants will explore emerging technologies such as generative AI, large language models and agentic AI, alongside AI governance frameworks, cybersecurity considerations, data protection obligations, AI-related risk assessments and organisational policy development.

Interested participants can click here to register now for the C-CAIO program.

The curriculum also introduces internationally recognised approaches, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001, while examining their relevance to AI governance and organisational readiness.

A key component of the program is its practical orientation. Rather than concentrating exclusively on theoretical concepts, the certification introduces participants to AI governance policies, risk registers, vendor due diligence, responsible deployment practices and decision-making frameworks that can support real-world AI initiatives.

Live sessions will provide opportunities for interaction with experienced practitioners, while recorded lessons and downloadable learning resources will support self-paced revision.

The program is being offered by FCRF Academy, the education and capacity-building initiative of the Future Crime Research Foundation, a Section 8, not-for-profit organisation incubated at IIT Kanpur’s AIIDE Centre of Excellence.

FCRF works across cybersecurity, cybercrime research, digital forensics, cyber law, fraud risk management, governance and emerging technology risks. Through its research initiatives, industry collaborations, professional certifications and capacity-building programs, the foundation seeks to strengthen India’s preparedness for an increasingly complex digital environment.

The CAIO certification builds on this multidisciplinary expertise by bringing together AI strategy, technology governance, cybersecurity, privacy and leadership under a single professional learning framework.

With its second cohort beginning on Saturday, November 14, at 11:00 AM IST, the program offers professionals an opportunity to develop the strategic knowledge and practical understanding needed to participate in AI-driven organisational transformation.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the professional landscape, the ability to lead its adoption responsibly may become as important as understanding the technology itself. Interested participants can click here to register now for the C-CAIO program.
