Bareilly. Another case of alleged fraud has been registered in Bareilly against Kanhaiya Gulati, director of Canviz company and an accused in a large-scale investment fraud case. The FIR was registered at CB Ganj police station following a court order. Gulati and his wife have been accused of allegedly defrauding a family of ₹10 lakh. With the registration of this case, the number of fraud cases registered against Kanhaiya Gulati in Bareilly district has reached 100. A reward of ₹50,000 has been announced for his arrest, and a Red Corner Notice has also been issued against him.

Karan, a resident of Mohanpur Rampur in the Bithri Chainpur police station area, told the police in his complaint that some people from his village introduced him to Kanhaiya Gulati. Gulati allegedly took him to his company’s office, where his wife was also present. The couple allegedly offered him the prospect of substantial profits through investment in the company and explained several investment schemes.

According to Karan, influenced by the company’s schemes and promises of profits, he invested a total of ₹8 lakh through online transactions on different dates. His son, Nitin Patel, and daughter, Parul Patel, also invested ₹1 lakh each. The family therefore invested a total of ₹10 lakh.

According to the complaint, Kanhaiya Gulati provided three cheques amounting to ₹10 lakh as a guarantee for the investment. He also allegedly promised to double the investment amount within 22 months. Karan alleged that even after the promised period had passed, he did not receive his investment amount or the promised returns. He then attempted to contact the accused but allegedly did not receive a satisfactory response.

According to the complainant, Gulati’s office and residence have remained closed for some time. He alleged that Gulati had gone into hiding along with his wife and son. Karan said he initially approached the local police for action. He also sent a complaint by registered post to the Senior Superintendent of Police, but when no FIR was registered, he approached the court.

Following the court’s direction, the CB Ganj police station registered the case. Police have started an investigation into the allegations. The investigation is expected to examine the money allegedly collected in the name of investment, online transactions, the cheques issued by the accused and documents related to the company’s investment schemes.

The alleged large-scale fraud linked to Canviz company is already being investigated by several agencies. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) are conducting investigations into the matter. The agencies are examining financial transactions linked to the company and the money allegedly collected from investors.

Police and investigating agencies have made several attempts to arrest Kanhaiya Gulati, but he has remained absconding. A reward of ₹50,000 has been announced for information leading to his arrest. A Red Corner Notice has also been issued to assist efforts to trace him.

The case came into focus again last month after a video surfaced showing Kanhaiya Gulati in a video conference with two of his alleged associates. Following the emergence of the video, police arrested both associates and sent them to jail. However, investigators have so far been unable to trace the main accused, Kanhaiya Gulati.

With the registration of the latest case, the number of fraud cases against Gulati in Bareilly district has reached 100. The police now have to investigate not only the allegations made by the complainant but also the complete trail of the ₹10 lakh investment. The investigation will also determine how the money was transferred, the circumstances in which the cheques were issued and the facts surrounding the alleged promise to double the investment within 22 months.
