Police in Tirupati have arrested a 24-year-old medical student from Hyderabad for allegedly defrauding a woman under the pretext of marriage, pressuring her to convert to his religion, and threatening to leak her private visual records. The accused, identified as Rayeed, became acquainted with the complainant while both were pursuing MBBS degrees in Georgia. Their relationship continued after their studies, leading to a recent meeting at a private hotel in Tirupati where the alleged offences took place.

Demands for Conversion and Blackmail Threats

According to investigators, tensions arose when the woman confronted Rayeed regarding their plans for marriage. The accused allegedly insisted on religious conversion as an absolute condition for solemnising the union. When the woman rejected the proposal, Rayeed reportedly threatened to post her private photographs and videos on public social media platforms and send them directly to her relatives. Prompted by these threats, the complainant approached the Alipiri police, who initiated an inquiry to establish the whereabouts of the accused.

Arrest in Malakpet and Forensic Analysis

Officers tracked Rayeed to his residence situated in the Akbar Bagh locality of Malakpet, Hyderabad, where he was formally apprehended. Following his arrest, he was brought back to Tirupati and produced before a local court after the completion of mandatory legal formalities. Investigators also confiscated a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone from his possession, forwarding the device to a forensic laboratory to retrieve and verify critical digital evidence.

Police said the detailed forensic scrutiny of call logs, text conversations, and stored media files will help reconstruct the sequence of events outlined in the original complaint. While the allegations remain under judicial scrutiny, investigators noted that the case will proceed based on the digital trail and witness testimony gathered throughout the ongoing probe.

Advisories Issued on Digital Discretion and Legal Action

In light of the incident, law enforcement officials cautioned students and young professionals residing away from home to remain vigilant while maintaining personal relationships. Authorities specifically highlighted the hazards of sharing sensitive photographs, videos, or confidential records through electronic channels.

Officials urged individuals encountering similar blackmail or harassment not to concede to coerced demands, advising them instead to seek immediate legal intervention. They stressed that preserving digital trails, including messages, call records, and social media activity, is crucial for holding perpetrators accountable under the law.
