Moga. A case of alleged unauthorised withdrawal and transfer of ₹32.50 lakh from a man’s bank account has come to light in Moga, Punjab. The incident was discovered when account holder Kulwant Singh visited his local Punjab and Sind Bank branch to renew a matured Fixed Deposit (FD). While checking his account details and statement with bank officials, he allegedly discovered that a substantial amount had been transferred to different accounts without his knowledge or authorisation.
According to Kulwant Singh, the account activity showed that the money had allegedly been moved through multiple transactions rather than through a single transfer. He said he was not familiar with the accounts to which the funds had been transferred and had not authorised the transactions. After discovering the missing funds during his visit to the bank, he immediately informed the branch authorities.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police. Based on the complaint, the local police have initiated an investigation. Preliminary inquiries are examining the possibility of cyber fraud or unauthorised diversion of funds from the bank account. The exact method through which the money was withdrawn or transferred, as well as the identity of those responsible, will be established through the investigation.
Police are collecting the transaction details of the concerned bank account and examining the accounts into which the money was allegedly transferred. Investigators are looking at the dates, times, amounts and modes of the individual transactions. The investigation is aimed at tracing the eventual recipients of the funds and identifying the persons allegedly responsible for carrying out the unauthorised transfers.
According to investigators, the bank’s transaction records could provide important evidence in the case. Banking system logs and other digital records are being examined to determine the method used to transfer the funds. Police are also scrutinising the recipient accounts to establish whether they are connected to one another or form part of a larger chain of transactions.
The investigation is also examining whether information linked to the victim’s bank account was accessed or obtained by unauthorised persons. Digital activity and available electronic evidence are being analysed to determine whether the alleged fraud was carried out through an online mechanism or involved another method of accessing and transferring funds from the account.
The incident has also raised concerns about the security of bank accounts and the importance of monitoring account activity. Customers can generally track transactions through bank statements, mobile alerts and other banking channels. Promptly informing the bank after detecting an unauthorised transaction can assist authorities in investigating the transaction and, where possible, tracing or stopping the movement of the funds.
For now, police are investigating the matter from both financial fraud and cyber fraud angles. Authorities are attempting to identify the suspicious accounts and trace the subsequent movement of the money transferred into them. The investigation will also determine whether the entire ₹32.50 lakh was routed through accounts connected to a single network or whether accounts belonging to different individuals and entities were used.
Police said further action will be taken after examining the bank transaction records and digital evidence. Identifying the persons allegedly responsible and determining the precise method used to carry out the suspected fraud remain key aspects of the investigation. Based on the information available so far, no arrest has been reported in the case.
