Four medical aspirants in Uttarakhand have had their MBBS admissions cancelled after an inquiry found that Freedom Fighter Dependent quota certificates submitted during the admission process were not valid.
Police have filed criminal cases against five people, including the four students and a parent, while authorities are examining whether a wider syndicate was involved in preparing government certificates and identification documents.
The four students named in the case are Tripti, Khushi, Pari and Swati. Uma Devi, a parent, has also been booked. The admissions had been secured under the Freedom Fighter Dependent quota.
Complaint Triggers Inquiry Into Certificates
The case surfaced after a formal complaint questioned the validity of certificates submitted during state NEET counselling. Dehradun District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan constituted a joint inquiry committee comprising the Chief Development Officer and Additional District Magistrate.
The inquiry found that affidavits submitted in support of the claims were incomplete. The Dehradun addresses provided by the applicants could not be verified during physical checks, while information furnished in the documents did not tally with official revenue records.
The inquiry also found that all four applicants had claimed dependency on a non-existent freedom fighter, according to the information presented in the case. Following the committee’s findings, the district administration cancelled the disputed quota certificates.

After the certificates were cancelled, Director of Medical Education Dr Ashutosh Sayana and HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University cancelled the MBBS admissions of all four students.
