The Central Bureau of Investigation has secured the extradition of wanted fugitive Amritpal Singh alias Gurpal Singh from Moldova to India in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Punjab Police. Singh, who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, is wanted in multiple serious criminal cases registered in Punjab.
Punjab Police Team Sent to Moldova
A four-member team of Punjab Police was sent to Moldova to bring Singh back to India after the extradition process was completed.
According to the investigating agency, Singh is wanted in cases involving a double murder in which firearms were allegedly used. He also faces allegations under the Arms Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The cases against him additionally include allegations involving the use of forged documents and violations of the Passport Act.
CBI Coordinated With Central Agencies
The extradition was coordinated by the CBI with the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Punjab Police.
The CBI functions as the National Central Bureau for Interpol in India and coordinates with Indian law enforcement agencies for international police cooperation and assistance through Interpol channels.
Such coordination is also facilitated through BHARATPOL, which enables law enforcement agencies in the country to seek assistance through international policing mechanisms.
175 Wanted Criminals Brought Back in Recent Years
The CBI said that 175 wanted criminals have been brought back to India over the past few years through similar international cooperation.
The return of Amritpal Singh from Moldova adds to these cases involving fugitives wanted by Indian law enforcement agencies and located abroad.
Singh will now face proceedings in connection with the criminal cases registered against him in Punjab, including allegations relating to murder, firearms, narcotics, forged documents and passport violations.
