Jahangaj Police have arrested a 39-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a case involving the alleged use of forged certificates, Aadhaar and other documents to obtain two separate passports. According to police, the accused allegedly used different names and dates of birth in separate passport applications to present himself as two different identities.
The arrested accused has been identified as Belal Ahmed, son of Iftikhar, a resident of Barhatir Jagdishpur in the Jahangaj police station area. Police said a case was registered on July 14, 2026, following a complaint concerning discrepancies in documents submitted for passport applications.

Initially, a case was registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 12(1)(b) of the Passport Act. During the investigation, additional provisions of the BNS were incorporated into the case based on the evidence and documents examined by the police.
According to the investigation, significant differences were found in the personal information submitted in the two passport applications. In the first application, the accused allegedly submitted a Maulvi certificate and an affidavit. These documents reportedly carried the name Belal Ahmed and recorded his date of birth as January 1, 1987.
However, in the second passport application, the documents submitted included an Aadhaar card and a PAN card. These documents allegedly mentioned the name Almad Belal and recorded the date of birth as January 1, 1997.
Police suspect that the differences in the name and date of birth were deliberately used to create a separate identity and obtain another passport. Investigators compared the documents submitted with both applications and examined the discrepancies in the personal details.
The alleged use of two different sets of identity details became a key aspect of the investigation. Police are examining whether the documents submitted with the applications were genuine and how the different personal details came to be recorded on the respective documents.
The arrest was made on August 26 during a police operation to trace wanted accused persons in the area. After his arrest, the accused was subjected to the required legal proceedings and was subsequently produced before a court.
Police said the case now involves Sections 318(4), 336(3), 338 and 340 of the BNS, along with Section 12(1)(b) of the Passport Act. The investigation covers the alleged preparation and use of forged documents as well as the submission of incorrect personal information for obtaining passport documents.
Investigators are also examining the source of the documents allegedly used in the passport applications. The role of the persons or entities that may have prepared, supplied or facilitated the documents is expected to be examined as part of the investigation.
Another important aspect is the reason for using different names and dates of birth in the two applications. Police are trying to determine whether the alleged manipulation of identity details was limited to obtaining a second passport or whether the documents were used or intended to be used for any other purpose.
The case also highlights the importance of verification of personal information submitted during the passport application process. Differences in names, dates of birth and other identity details across government documents can become significant indicators during verification and investigation.
Police said action against individuals allegedly involved in the use of forged documents and fraudulent methods to obtain official identity documents will continue. Investigators are expected to examine additional records linked to the accused and the two passport applications to establish the complete sequence of events.
The accused has been arrested, but the investigation into the alleged source of the documents, the different identities used in the applications and the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the two passports remains underway. Further action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation and proceedings before the court.
