Agra: Police have arrested two more alleged members of a gang accused of defrauding people of crores of rupees by promising to double their investments through real estate. Kamla Nagar police arrested named accused Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Soni after several days of efforts to trace them. The investigation has so far uncovered evidence of an alleged fraud worth around ₹27 crore. Victims involving approximately ₹12 crore have approached Kamla Nagar police, while investigators have also received information about more than ₹15 crore allegedly collected from people in Rajasthan.
According to police, the accused allegedly lured people into investing in a company called ‘ABNL World’. Potential investors were told that the company invested in the real estate sector and generated attractive returns. They were allegedly promised that their investment would double within two years. Trusting these assurances and expecting high returns, several people invested their savings in the company. However, the investors allegedly received neither the promised profits nor their principal amount after making the payments.
Police said the alleged mastermind of the network, Satyaprakash Tithal, had already been arrested. Kamla Nagar resident Satyaprakash Tithal was reportedly arrested from Tundla and subsequently sent to jail. His wife, along with the wives of Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Soni, have also been named as accused in the case. Police said these accused went underground after the arrests began and efforts are underway to trace them.
Where Did the Money Go?
One of the biggest questions in the investigation is the whereabouts of the money allegedly collected from investors. Police have so far been unable to determine where the crores of rupees were transferred, invested or concealed. During questioning, the arrested accused allegedly told investigators that the complete financial accounts and details of the transactions were maintained by Vishal Tithal.
According to the accused, Vishal Tithal may be able to provide information about where the allegedly defrauded money was ultimately transferred or concealed. Investigators are now examining bank accounts, property records, financial transactions and other documents linked to the accused to trace the money trail.
The police are also trying to determine whether the funds collected in the name of investments were transferred to other individuals or businesses, or used to purchase properties and other assets. Investigators are examining whether additional people were involved in handling or diverting the money.
Victims Await Recovery of Their Money
Despite the alleged fraud involving crores of rupees, police have not yet recovered any money from the accused. This has increased the concerns of victims who invested their savings expecting them to double within the promised period. With neither the promised returns nor the original investments being returned, victims are now waiting for investigators to trace and recover the funds.
Police officials said the number of victims and the estimated amount involved could increase as the investigation progresses. Information about an alleged fraud of more than ₹15 crore involving people in Rajasthan has also emerged, indicating that the network may have operated beyond Agra and potentially across state borders.
Gangster Act Action Planned
DCP City Syed Ali Abbas said action under the Gangsters Act would be initiated against the accused in the case. Police will also identify properties allegedly acquired using proceeds of the suspected fraud and initiate legal proceedings for their seizure.
Investigators are examining whether the accused purchased land, houses, vehicles or other assets using the money allegedly collected from investors. The police are also working to identify additional members of the network and trace the complete flow of funds.
The investigation will focus on establishing the alleged financial network, locating the missing money and determining the role of each accused. Further action will be taken on the basis of evidence gathered during the investigation and the findings of the ongoing legal process.
