Muzaffarpur: A man from Muzaffarpur was allegedly duped of ₹13 lakh after cyber fraudsters lured him with the promise of high returns on online investment, according to information visible in the report.

Victim Contacted Through WhatsApp
The case involves a resident of Chakkagaji in the Ahiyapur police station area. The report states that Diwakar Jha received a message on WhatsApp from an unknown number. The sender introduced himself as an investment adviser and claimed that the victim could earn high profits in a short period through online investment.
Relying on the assurance, the victim allegedly transferred money in different phases. The total amount invested by him eventually reached ₹13 lakh.
Demand for More Money Raises Suspicion
After some time, the accused allegedly began demanding more money. This made the victim suspect that he had been cheated. The report says he then immediately contacted the cyber helpline number 1930 and lodged a complaint.
The complaint was registered online after the victim reported the fraud through the helpline.
₹8 Lakh Put on Hold After Complaint
Following the online complaint, the victim received a message stating that ₹8 lakh had been put on hold. The move provided him some financial relief after the alleged fraud.
