Noida: Police have registered a cybercrime case in Noida after a Dadri resident and company employee was allegedly cheated of ₹6.06 lakh by fraudsters who posed as bank officials and obtained confidential banking details over the phone. The victim, identified as Sarjeet Singh, told police that the fraud began after he received a call from an unknown number and was asked to share information under the pretext of bank verification.

Fraud Call Posed as Bank Inquiry
According to the complaint, Singh, a resident of Dadri’s Escort Colony, works at a mirror-manufacturing company in Phase 2. He said he received the call on the night of August 24, 2025. The caller introduced himself as a bank officer and sought some information, claiming it was required for banking purposes.
The complainant alleged that the accused used the conversation to obtain sensitive details linked to his bank accounts. Soon after, ₹54,900 was withdrawn from one of his accounts.
Multiple Accounts Used in Transactions
The complaint states that nearly ₹57,000 was also withdrawn from another bank account. In all, more than ₹1 lakh was initially siphoned off, after which funds were allegedly moved through different accounts.
A total of ₹6.06 lakh was eventually transferred out of the complainant’s bank accounts, according to the details provided to police. Singh also submitted information about suspicious transactions across his accounts.
Police Begin Cybercrime Probe
The victim first reported the incident on the cyber helpline number 1930, where a complaint number was issued. However, the amount could not be recovered. He later approached Dadri police and formally lodged an FIR.
Police have registered a case under cybercrime provisions, citing the seriousness of the matter. Officials said action will be taken against the accused and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved. The bank accounts that received the money are also being examined, and the account holders are being traced.
