Recent Arrests Highlight Ongoing Concerns
The warning comes in the backdrop of arrests made by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in connection with bribery cases involving police personnel. The message from the DGP gained significance following these developments, which have drawn attention to internal accountability within the force.
Officials indicated that the actions taken are part of ongoing efforts to address misconduct and reinforce ethical standards among personnel.
Details of Bribery Case Under Investigation
In one such case, the Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended a Sub-Inspector of Police, U.K. Siddeshwar, and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah of the RGIA Police Outpost. The officers were accused of demanding a bribe of ₹5 lakh and accepting ₹2 lakh from a complainant.
According to officials, the payment was part of a larger demand in exchange for performing an official favour, including filing a charge sheet and refraining from taking action against the complainant’s family members in a case registered at the RGIA police station in Shamshabad.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau stated that both officers acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
