Bengaluru: Dr. C.J. Roy, the founder and chairman of the multinational real estate company Confident Group, tragically ended his life on Thursday during an income tax department raid. The incident occurred as the tax team was conducting operations at the company’s Richmond Road headquarters. Police sources stated that, under extreme stress, Dr. Roy shot himself, ending his life.
The income tax department was raiding companies and properties linked to Dr. Roy over discrepancies between his declared income and assets. Initial investigations revealed inconsistencies, and repeated tax scrutiny, along with the recent raid, had put Dr. Roy under severe mental pressure, which he could not bear.
