New Delhi: As the global race for artificial intelligence intensifies, major technology companies are increasingly recruiting highly skilled engineers to strengthen their research and development teams. In this context, Indian-origin software engineer Aman Gottumukkala has announced that he has joined the companies led by Elon Musk — xAI and SpaceX.
Gottumukkala is widely known as the founder of the AI-powered coding tool Firebender. Sharing the update on the social media platform X, he said he would work with Musk’s companies on developing next-generation artificial intelligence coding technologies.
The announcement comes at a time when Musk’s AI ventures are rapidly expanding and actively bringing top engineering talent from around the world to accelerate the development of advanced AI systems.
Recognition through AI coding tool
Aman Gottumukkala developed Firebender, an artificial intelligence–based coding assistant, a few years ago. The tool is designed particularly for Android developers and helps them write, manage, and improve code more efficiently.
The software integrates directly with development platforms such as Android Studio and other developer environments. According to Gottumukkala, he built the project with a small team and managed to scale it to generate millions of dollars in revenue within a few years.
He has stated that the capabilities of AI models are advancing rapidly and that the technology could significantly transform the global technology ecosystem in the near future.

Preparing to work on ‘superintelligence’
Gottumukkala said he will collaborate with xAI and SpaceX to work on advanced artificial intelligence systems. According to him, the world is approaching a stage where technology could evolve toward what many experts describe as “superintelligence.”
He noted that developing such advanced systems requires massive computing infrastructure, extensive resources, and access to global technical talent.
Devendra Chaplot also joins Musk’s team
Earlier, Indian-origin AI researcher Devendra Chaplot also announced that he had joined SpaceX and xAI. In a message shared on social media, he said he would work with Musk’s team to develop advanced AI models.
Chaplot has previously worked with several prominent technology organizations and is recognized for his work in machine learning and robotics. He earned his PhD in machine learning from Carnegie Mellon University and completed his undergraduate studies at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Debate on social media
Following these appointments, discussions have intensified on social media regarding the increasing presence of foreign engineers in Silicon Valley and the role of the H-1B visa program in the United States.
However, Elon Musk has previously expressed support for the visa program, arguing that global technology companies must attract international talent to remain competitive and continue innovation.
Growing influence of Indian talent in AI
Technology experts believe that engineers and researchers of Indian origin are playing an increasingly significant role in the development of artificial intelligence worldwide. Many leading global technology companies already employ Indian professionals in key positions.
The rising presence of Indian engineers in Musk’s companies is also being seen as a sign that Indian talent is becoming an important driving force in the global advancement of artificial intelligence.
