New Delhi:    In a major action against rising cybercrime cases, Delhi Police conducted a nationwide operation and cracked down on an organized fraud network. The West District Cyber Cell team carried out simultaneous raids in 11 states and arrested 27 suspects. According to investigating officials, the gang was involved in investment fraud, WhatsApp and Instagram-based cheating, credit card fraud, and APK file-based cyber scams.

The investigation revealed that fraud amounting to nearly ₹1.5 crore has been confirmed in cases linked to the network. In addition, suspicious financial transactions worth approximately ₹13.91 crore were traced in bank accounts associated with the gang, and a detailed probe is underway. Officials stated that the group used technical methods to lure victims and cause financial losses.

Nationwide Raids Across 11 States

Police officials said the cyber cell had been monitoring the network’s activities for several days. After technical analysis and digital tracking, the suspects were identified. Following this, simultaneous raids were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, and West Bengal.

During the operation, police recovered a large quantity of suspicious materials from the arrested suspects. The seized items include 25 mobile phones, 28 SIM cards, 20 banking cards, one POS machine, one motorcycle, and several financial documents. Investment and Social Media-Based Fraud Network

The investigation report revealed that the gang operated across multiple online platforms to lure people with fake investment schemes. In many cases, suspects contacted victims through WhatsApp and Instagram, offering unrealistic profit opportunities. Later, victims were tricked into downloading APK files that allowed access to their mobile devices to steal financial data.

Police officials stated that the bank accounts and digital transaction records of the arrested suspects are being thoroughly examined. Efforts are also underway to determine whether more individuals are involved in the network. There is suspicion that the gang operated fake investment schemes under different names across multiple states.

Further Arrests Likely

Cybercrime experts said such organized networks are exploiting modern technology to carry out fraud. Experts advised people to avoid downloading unknown links, investing in suspicious schemes, or trusting online offers without verification. Officials confirmed that cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under relevant legal provisions. The police team is also continuing its search operation to trace other absconding suspects linked to the network.

The public has been urged to verify the authenticity of any online investment or digital payment before transferring money. Awareness and caution remain the strongest defense against cyber fraud. Authorities stated that after the completion of the investigation, the entire network will be exposed and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.
