New Delhi:      Panic swept parts of the national capital on Monday morning after as many as nine prominent schools across Delhi received bomb threat emails, triggering swift evacuations and large-scale security operations. The threats, received between 8:30 am and 9:00 am, prompted an immediate response from school authorities and law-enforcement agencies, placing the city’s education hubs on high alert.

Threat Emails Trigger Swift Evacuations

According to preliminary information, the threatening emails contained provocative and extremist language, claiming that “Delhi will become Khalistan” and referencing execution-convict Afzal Guru. Upon receiving the emails, school administrations promptly alerted the police, following which bomb disposal squads, dog squads and fire services were rushed to the locations.

As a precautionary measure, students were evacuated from classrooms and moved to secure areas within or outside school premises. In several schools, classes were suspended for the day, while parents were informed and asked to take their children home to ensure safety and avoid panic.

Schools Placed Under High Security

The schools that received the threats include Loreto Convent School in Delhi Cantonment, Cambridge School in South Delhi, The Indian School, Venkateshwar International School in Rohini, CM School, Bal Bharati School, Cambridge School in New Friends Colony, DTA School near INA, and Ahlcon Public School in East Delhi. Security teams carried out thorough searches of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, parking areas and other common spaces at all locations.

Officials involved in the operation confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosives were found during the checks. Despite this, authorities maintained heightened caution, emphasising that every threat, regardless of past patterns, is treated as potentially serious until ruled out.

Cyber Teams Trace Digital Trail

Police sources said that cyber and technical units have been deployed to trace the origin of the emails. Investigators are analysing email headers, server routing paths, IP addresses and possible use of VPNs or proxy servers. The probe is also examining whether the threats match the digital signature or wording patterns of previous hoax cases reported in Delhi and other metropolitan cities.

Officials Warn Against Rumours, Assure Safety

Senior officers noted that hoax bomb threats targeting schools and public buildings have surfaced intermittently in recent years, often aimed at spreading fear and disrupting public order. In several earlier incidents, perpetrators were later identified and prosecuted. Drawing from those experiences, agencies are exercising extra vigilance in the current case.

In response to the incident, police increased patrolling around the affected schools and advised managements to strictly adhere to standard security protocols. School authorities were asked to monitor email systems closely and report any suspicious communication without delay.

The Delhi Police also issued an appeal to parents and citizens, urging them not to pay heed to rumours or unverified messages circulating on social media. Officials stressed that the situation across all nine schools remains fully under control and that students are safe.

Meanwhile, law-enforcement agencies are continuing efforts to identify the sender, determine the motive behind the threats and establish whether the emails were part of a coordinated attempt to create panic. Officials said further clarity would emerge once the technical analysis is completed.
