GHAZIABAD: In the early hours of Wednesday, three sisters fell to their deaths from a residential building in Ghaziabad. As police began piecing together the hours leading up to the incident, attention turned to family tensions, school absenteeism, and a growing dependence on online games.
A Predawn Call and a Scene Below
Shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, residents of a housing complex in Ghaziabad were jolted awake by a loud noise. When they rushed outside, they found three girls lying near the base of a residential building. Authorities were alerted immediately.
Police teams reached the spot within minutes and arranged for the girls to be taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital in Loni. Doctors declared all three dead on arrival. The victims were later identified as sisters aged 12, 14 and 16, all minors.
Their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination as investigators began the process of reconstructing what had happened inside the apartment in the hours before the fall.

What Investigators Say So Far
Police officials said the sisters had jumped from the ninth floor of their building. While the investigation is ongoing, officers indicated that there was no suicide note recovered from the scene or from the family home.
According to preliminary inquiries, the incident followed a disagreement at home related to the girls’ increasing dependence on an online, task-based game. Investigators are examining the children’s mobile phones and speaking with family members to establish a clearer sequence of events.
A senior police officer said the girls’ use of online games had reportedly increased over the past few years, and that they had also begun skipping school frequently—details now forming part of the official inquiry.
Online Gaming and Family Tensions
Police described the case as one suspected to be linked to what they termed “excessive online gaming,” though they cautioned that conclusions had not yet been reached. The sisters’ growing engagement with online games had, according to investigators, become a point of contention within the household.
The focus of the inquiry remains on understanding how domestic disagreements, daily routines, and digital habits intersected in the period leading up to the incident. Officials said they are relying on phone data, family statements, and neighborhood accounts to build a timeline grounded in verifiable facts.
The Official Response
Atul Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Shalimar Garden, said police received information about the incident at around 2:15 a.m. A team was dispatched immediately and conducted an on-site investigation.
“The girls were taken by ambulance to the 50-bed hospital in Loni, where doctors declared all three dead,” Singh said, adding that further legal proceedings are underway.
As forensic reports are awaited, police have emphasized that the investigation remains open, with no final determination yet made about the precise causes or circumstances behind the deaths.
