  • Youths were lured with false promises of overseas employment.
  • Agents transported them from Delhi to Bangkok on valid visas.
  • From Bangkok, they were illegally smuggled through forests and rivers into KK Park, Myawaddy (Myanmar) — a global hotspot for cyber scam factories run largely by Chinese syndicates.

    • Fake loan apps

    • Digital arrest scams

    • Investment fraud

    • Honeytrap & romance scams

    • Voice phishing & OTP harvesting

Victims reported severe intimidation, restricted movement, and threats of violence.

STF Identifies Trafficking Network; Youths From Uttarakhand Targeted

The STF investigation uncovered that a larger trafficking chain was operating across northern India, actively targeting unemployed youth with promises of “high-paying jobs in Thailand”.

According to police:

  • Two local agents had been actively sending youths from Udham Singh Nagar district to Bangkok under the guise of employment.
  • These youths were then moved illegally into Myanmar’s cyber scam compounds.
  • The arrested agent played a key role in recruitment and movement logistics.

A case was registered on 13 November 2025 at Jaspur Police Station under relevant anti-trafficking and cybercrime laws.

Further investigation is underway to identify:

  • The foreign handlers operating from Myanmar
  • India-based recruiters aiding the trafficking pipeline
  • The financial channels used for illegal recruitment

Indian agencies, including the CBI and MEA, have intensified operations to rescue trafficked citizens and arrest local agents.
