In the City of Patna, a total number of reported cybercriminals arounded upto 145 spread across the various districts of the State of Bihar from January 2025 to July 2025 under the special surveillance campaign called Cyber Prahar.
Detailed Report of Cyber Prahar Campaign
Cyber Prahar, a special surveillance campaign run & established by the department of Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police. As per the reports of this special campaign, there was more than 46,000 online Fraud complaints seen in this year 2025. Moreover this, the EOU blocked the 5,131 registered mobile phone numbers used for cyber fraud. The Special Unit found more than 3000 devices used for online Frauds which also have been blocked.

Funds Recovered from this Campaign
As per the reports of the Unit, sum of rupees 57 crores were freezed the bank Accounts which were approximately 23% of the total amounts of the victims lost in such cyber frauds. The EOU refunded approximately an amount of 4.5 crore rupees to the victims.
Reports on Fraud Complaints & Resolved Cases
EOU reports that around 430 Complaints were registered on social media platforms among which approximately hundred complaints were registered for fake Profiles & Misleading Information.
The Unit also received around 280 complaints which were transferred to the respective districts for taking legal actions. In 280 complaints, 15 FIRs were registered in the local Police Stations for further Investigation. The Department of Cyber Helpline received around 18 lakhs calls in which 83 cases needed technical support & more than 1300 cases were resolved by the various districts.
Resolution Given by EOU
The Special Unit distributed Cyber Manual titled as “Cyber Crime Investigation Manual” to aid the cyber department of the police stations for taking legal actions & enforcement of it. The DIG stated that the special unit of EOU has uncovered cybercrimes related to illegal calls causing losses to the government & telecommunication companies. Raids in the districts of Supaul , Vaishali & Bhojpur led to seizure of thousands of SIM cards & arrest of seven cybercriminals. He further quoted 2 cases were forwarded to the Department of Economic Offences of Police Stations for Investigation.
