Constable Amandeep Kaur, once a viral sensation on Instagram for her glamorous posts and luxury lifestyle, has been arrested under the NDPS Act for allegedly possessing heroin and amassing assets disproportionate to her income. Investigators are now probing deeper into her alleged involvement in a larger drug network.

The Arrest: From Insta Fame to Drug Shame

Amandeep Kaur, popularly known as the ‘Insta Queen’ in Punjab’s social media circles, was a serving woman constable with the Punjab Police. Her stylish reels, bold presence, and black Thar SUV had made her a recognizable name online. But behind the filters and hashtags lay a trail that led to her arrest by Bathinda police in a high-stakes narcotics bust.

On April 2, 2025, acting on confidential intelligence, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and local police intercepted her Thar vehicle near the Badal flyover. As the vehicle was flagged down, Kaur reportedly attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly caught by accompanying lady constables. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 17.71 grams of heroin hidden in a compartment near the gear.

A formal FIR (No. 65/2025) was registered under Sections 21B, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Canal Colony police station.

Assets Beyond Salary: Property Seizure Shocks Vigilance Teams

Following the drug seizure, vigilance teams uncovered startling details about the scale of Amandeep’s personal wealth — far beyond what a constable’s salary could explain.

As part of the ongoing investigation, properties and high-value assets worth over ₹1.35 crore were seized, including:

  • Land in Virat Green, Bathinda (217 sq. yds): ₹99 lakh
  • Land in Dream City, Bathinda (120.83 sq. yds): ₹18.12 lakh
  • Mahindra Thar (PB05 AQ 7720): ₹14 lakh
  • Royal Enfield Bullet (PB03 BM 4445): ₹1.7 lakh
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone SE, Vivo mobile: Combined value ₹56,000
  • Rolex wristwatch: ₹1 lakh
  • SBI Bank Balance: ₹1.01 lakh

Total seized assets: ₹1,35,39,588.53

These findings have raised serious questions about how such wealth was generated — and whether the young constable was merely a small cog in a much larger network of drug peddlers and real estate laundering.

A Case of Individual Greed or Systemic Failure?

Amandeep Kaur’s case is not isolated. It reflects a disturbing trend of public servants misusing their position for criminal gain while living double lives through the sheen of social media. Sources within the police indicate this arrest may lead to more disclosures, with investigators looking into possible accomplices both within and outside law enforcement.

Senior police officials have emphasized that the force is committed to rooting out corruption and criminal links within its ranks. Kaur had already been suspended after the initial NDPS charges were filed. Her formal arrest by the Vigilance Bureau this week marks the next chapter in what may become a larger state-wide crackdown.

The Punjab Police have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward drug crimes and internal collusion. However, public trust remains fragile, especially in a state already battling the reputational damage of widespread drug abuse and trafficking.
