A 23-year-old chemical technology student from Tamil Nadu, residing in Mumbai, lost over ₹6 lakh to cyber fraudsters after seeking escort services online. Lured through WhatsApp, he made multiple payments under various pretexts. Realizing the scam, he filed a complaint with Matunga police, who registered an FIR under BNS and IT Act.

2. Tamil Nadu cyber fraud busted, four held for duping man of ₹81.7 lakh

A Vellore resident lost ₹81.7 lakh to fraudsters posing as Bengaluru police, falsely accusing him of involvement in human trafficking. The scam trail led to a bank account opened for an alleged online gaming business. Further investigation revealed the role of multiple individuals managing fraudulent accounts across Coimbatore.

3. Cyberabad police recover 310 missing mobile phones worth ₹95 lakh in one month

Cyberabad Police recovered 310 stolen and lost mobile phones worth ₹95 lakh within 30 days using the CEIR portal. The devices were returned to rightful owners. Officials urged timely reporting of thefts and public vigilance against cyber fraud, emphasizing data safety and recommending CCTV installation in residential and community areas.

4. Four held in major cyber crime case as police crack down on online fraud

In an anti-cybercrime drive in Deoghar, a joint team of Cyber Thana and local police detained four youths suspected of making fraudulent calls and cheating people. The arrests aim to curb rising cyber fraud in the region. Authorities continue investigating their involvement in organized online scams.

5. Digital arrest scam: two nabbed for impersonating police to extort money
