Tata Technologies Hit by Major Data Leak as Ransomware Group Strikes

Tata Technologies Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, has reportedly fallen victim to a massive data leak following a ransomware attack earlier this year. According to a report by TechCrunch, a cybercriminal group known as Hunters International has published what it claims to be stolen data from the Pune-based company on the dark web.
What’s in the Leak?
The leaked data, allegedly totalling 1.4TB, includes over 7,30,000 confidential documents, such as Excel spreadsheets, PDF files, and PowerPoint presentations. Among the compromised information are personal details of current and former employees, as well as sensitive business records like purchase orders and customer contracts from both India and the United States.
While it remains unclear if this leak is directly linked to the earlier ransomware attack, the breach raises serious concerns about data security and corporate espionage.

Who is Behind the Attack?
Hunters International, a relatively new ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) syndicate, is believed to be responsible for this breach. The group provides cybercriminals with its infrastructure and takes a share of the ransom payments. It is also linked to the infamous Hive ransomware gang, which was previously responsible for leaking stolen data from Tata Power in 2022.
Tata Technologies Responds
In response to the incident, Tata Technologies has filed a report with the Indian stock exchanges, stating that an investigation is underway in collaboration with cybersecurity experts to determine the root cause and implement necessary corrective measures.
