How Was the Fake Milk Made?
Investigations revealed that whey powder and sorbitol were the key ingredients used to manufacture synthetic milk. Sorbitol, a sugar alcohol commonly used in food and pharmaceuticals, was found in powdered form at the collection center. Despite being a well-known dairy brand, Parag was purchasing synthetic milk from the center without proper testing.
Mismatch in Records
Authorities also found discrepancies in the recorded and actual quantities of milk at the center. The official register showed only 65 liters of milk, but when inspected, officials recovered 125 liters, indicating large-scale adulteration.
Legal Action and Further Investigation
The Food Department is currently investigating the extent of the fraud and whether similar adulteration is happening at other centers. Strict action is expected against those involved in this illegal practice, which poses a significant health risk to consumers. This shocking discovery highlights the need for stricter food safety regulations and increased public awareness regarding milk quality. Consumers are urged to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of the products they purchase.
