Cyber Criminal Declares Rs 7,700 Crore Income from Jail, Offers to Pay Taxes

Sukesh Chandrashekar, the controversial figure embroiled in multiple financial fraud cases, has made headlines again—this time with an unexpected appeal to the Indian government.
In a letter addressed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Sukesh has declared an overseas income of Rs 7,640 crore for 2024 and expressed his willingness to pay taxes on it under relevant government schemes.
Sukesh, who is currently in judicial custody and awaiting trial, claimed his international businesses, LS Holdings International and Speed Gaming Corporation, are engaged in gaming and betting operations across the United States, Spain, the UK, Dubai, and Hong Kong. He asserted that his earnings are legitimate and not linked to any illegal activities.

“As a proud Indian inspired by the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am eager to contribute to the nation’s progress. I wish to pay Indian taxes on my overseas income and invest it in the development of this great country,” Sukesh wrote in his letter.
The self-proclaimed businessman also emphasized his status as an undertrial, stating that no court has convicted him to date. He added that the Indian tax authorities have already initiated proceedings on his domestic income, which, he claims, validates its legitimacy.
Sukesh’s businesses, registered in Nevada and the British Virgin Islands, reportedly generate significant revenue from online and offline gaming ventures. He expressed readiness to settle all pending tax disputes in India and pledged to align with Indian tax laws.
“I am declaring my legitimate overseas income of Rs 7,640 crore for the year 2024 and am prepared to pay appropriate taxes immediately,” Sukesh stated, reiterating his commitment to contributing to India’s development.
The letter has sparked a mix of intrigue and skepticism, given Sukesh’s history of legal troubles and allegations of fraud. Whether this move is a genuine attempt to rehabilitate his image or a calculated strategy remains to be seen.
