7 Officers Suspended for Mobile Tracking of Female IPS Jyeshtha Maitreyi
ALWAR: Seven police officers from the Cyber Cell in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, have been suspended for allegedly tracking the mobile phone location of Superintendent of Police (SP) Jyeshtha Maitrei without authorization, according to sources familiar with the case. Among the suspended officers is Sub-Inspector Shravan Joshi, the head of the district Cyber Cell. The suspensions followed a preliminary investigation that confirmed the Indian Police Service (IPS) officer’s claims.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ajay Pal Lamba of Jaipur range stated that the Cyber Cell officers tracked SP Maitrei’s location on 15 separate occasions. “This is an unprecedented incident, and it constitutes a criminal act,” Lamba remarked.
The reasons behind the tracking are still unclear. Lamba emphasized that the ongoing investigation will focus on uncovering the motive. He noted that a deputy SP has been appointed to lead the inquiry and will submit a report in the next few days, after which appropriate action will be taken against the involved personnel.
SP Jyeshtha Maitrei, a 2017 batch IPS officer, expressed her distress over the situation, stating, “I am the victim of this conspiracy, so how can I provide the details?” Maitrei had earlier lodged a complaint with police headquarters, leading to the suspensions.
In addition to SI Shravan Joshi, the other suspended officers include Head Constable Avnish Kumar and Constables Rahul, Satish, Deepak, Bhim, and Rohitash.
Hailing from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, SP Maitrei passed the Civil Services Examination in 2017. After completing her training in 2018, she took charge as the Assistant SP in Udaipur’s Girwa Circle. She later served as the SP of Bhilwara and as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Crime Branch in Jaipur before her current role in Bhiwadi.
