IAS Aspirant Kidnaps Boy, Demands Rs 10 Lakh Ransom to Fund UPSC Coaching

BIHAR: A 25-year-old man from Bihar’s Gopalganj district kidnapped an eight-year-old boy from his home, allegedly to fund his UPSC coaching, and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. According to the boy’s mother, the man sought shelter from the rain at their home. When mother briefly went inside, accused fled with her son. After realizing her son was missing, she immediately lodged a police complaint. The boy, a Class 5 student, was later located in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, where the accused resided. The police arrested the man and seized both a bike and a car involved in the crime. Authorities revealed that the man’s brother was also involved, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

In a similar case, an eight-year-old girl was kidnapped by a 21-year-old drug addict in Delhi, who demanded a ransom of Rs 20,000 to purchase drugs. The girl’s father, upon returning home and discovering her missing, alerted the police. After receiving multiple ransom demands, the police examined CCTV footage, which showed a man in a red and black checkered shirt leading the girl away. It was further discovered that the kidnapper had been staying in the area for the past few days at an acquaintance’s house.

The police tracked the kidnapper’s location to a moving train in Bihar’s Buxar district, using the phone records. They coordinated with the railway police at Buxar and Arrah stations to intercept the train. The railway police successfully rescued the girl, identified from her photographs, and arrested the suspect. The accused later confessed that he had come to Delhi to work as a laborer and committed the crime to fund his drug habit.
