Noida Call Centre Busted: 25 Arrested in International Cyber Fraud Operation

NOIDA: A major cyber scam targeting foreigners, particularly US nationals, has been busted in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) Lucknow headquarters and Sector 58 police station arrested 25 individuals from a call center allegedly involved in the fraudulent scheme.

Modus Operandi:

  • The call center operatives, posing as representatives of private companies, contacted foreigners offering technical support for computer systems and IP addresses.
  • They convinced unsuspecting victims to download an app called Any Desk, allowing the scammers remote control of their computers.
  • Once in control, the scammers claimed to fix non-existent technical issues and extorted money in the form of gift cards ranging from USD 100 to USD 500 for popular online brands.

The Raid and Seized Items:

During the raid, authorities apprehended 25 individuals and seized 34 mobile phones, 22 computer systems, four laptops, and five internet routers as evidence.

The Suspects:

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jayant Lal, Manik Siwach, Mohd Sabir, Shiva Kashyap, Mohit Grover, Adil Rizvi, Divyam Sharma, Ritik Malhotra, Saksham Malhotra, Himanshu Bhardwaj, Rohit Yadav, Ankur Soni, Kailash Shahi, Firoz Alam, Bhupendra Singh Yadav, Afroz Khan, Yudhishthir Kumar, Manish Tiwari, Gautam Sehgal, Yash Makkad, Anubhav Tyagi, Sanjeet, Chandrapal Singh, Neeraj Yadav, and Nadeem.

Police are actively searching for other individuals linked to the scam who are currently absconding.

Legal Action:

An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including cheating by impersonation, cheating, forgery, and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
