2 Sextortionists Target Businessmen By Making Their Obscene Videos, Arrested

LUCKNOW: A joint team of the cybercrime wing and the Mahanagar police in Lucknow held two people for allegedly extorting money from people by making obscene videos.

The accused, identified as Mohit Singh of Hamirpur and Vivek Singh of Banda district, used to identify their target and would make a girl video call him and start stripping. The target would get involved in the obscene act on the video call. Using screen recorder software entire obscene act is recorded, and the video was later used to blackmail the victim.

Such cases of sextortion have been reported from across India, police also suspect organised gang working behind it.  A similar case recently came to light in Hazratganj area, where blackmailers made an obscene video of a senior official working in a government department.

The name of the accused came to light during the investigation of a case filed in Mahanagar on June 22.

In his complaint, a businessman stated that he received a video call from a girl who engaged in an obscene act. After the victim was hanging up the phone, a youth called the victim to blackmail him. He was asked to pay Rs 30 crore for the video’s removal.

According to the police, instead of giving the money, the victim filed a complaint. The youths had performed the trick on several people and made a large sum of money. In some cases, victims did not file a complaint in order to avoid social disgrace.
